Police Take Guns From Gun Buy-Backs And Sell Them Back To The Public: "City and County police departments will sometimes host gun buy-back programs where residents will voluntarily and anonymously turn in their firearms. In exchange, the police will give each participant something like a certain amount of free gas or a gift certificate to a local grocery store. Anything to serve as an incentive to get people to turn in their weapons."
