More Americans Moving to the South and West: "Between 2010 and 2013, nearly a million people migrated to Texas, Florida, the Carolinas and Colorado, reports Stateline.

1.2 million Americans left the Northeast and the Midwest for the South and West in just three years, from 2010 to 2013.
New York, Illinois, California, New Jersey and Michigan have lost almost a million residents to interstate moves."
